In October 2001 a group of like minded friends decided to set up a pipe band which would be located in Balerno at the foot of the Pentland hills.
After discussion, and input from everyone, it was decided to create a social non competing band and call it Pentland Caledonia Pipe Band.
The band is currently under the direction of Pipe Major Gary Newton and Drum Sergeant Bill (Chalkie) White.
We are made up of enthusiastic people and has a family friendly atmosphere (probably becuase half the band IS family!) with a wide age range.
We wear the Scottish National tartan and enjoy taking part in gala days and other events in and around Scotland
We have played in various locations world wide including, on numerous occassions, the Tartan week parade in New York and were recently invited to Basle, Switzerland, playing along side the local Highlander band in the Fasnacht annual festival.
Some members of the band will once again be playing in the Tartan week parade in April 2012
